Beef & Barley Soup

Ingredients : 

°1 pound bone-removed chuck roast and cut into 1 inch pieces
°1 1/2 cup thin cut carrot
°1 1/2 cup celery sliced
°2/3 cup chopped onion
°10-12 mushroom sliced
°2 tbsp beef base (this is different from beef broth it is a base that makes beef broth)
°8-10 Cups Water
°1 or 2 large bay leaves
°1 cup uncooked pearl barley
°1/2 teaspoon salt
°1/2 teaspoon pepper
°1 tbsp garlic

 Methods : 

Brown beef in a frying pan until brown, stirring frequently
Remove the beef from the pan and place in the pottery bowl, add the carrots, celery, onions, mushrooms, beef base, water, garlic and bay leaves
Cook on high heat for 2 hours, add the pearl barley over low heat and cook until the vegetables and beef are cooked.
Stir in salt and pepper
Remove and dispose of Gulf Paper
